So...Why is it called a 'Double Life'?

Weighbridges mainly fail for 3 reasons:

  1. The deck wears out.
  2. The welding fails.
  3. The structure rusts away.

Libra have developed a Weighbridge to combat all these problems!

The name 'Double Life' sums up the main point of our unique design. Where our competitors Weighbridges would need replacement, when the weighbridge deck eventually wears down over years of use, unlike any other Weighbridge the 'Double Life' can simply be revived by turning the deck over. This gives the weighbridge a renewed surface, amazingly, doubling its life span. The cost saving speaks for itself as you are getting 2 Weighbridges for the price of 1. This Weighbridge can also be easily extended over its length and width at anytime in the future and is built with portability in mind.

Dimensions and Capacities:

Standard Lengths Available - 5M, 8M, 10M, 12M, 15M, 16M, 18M & 20M.
Larger lengths are available, with no limit, upon request

Strength and Durability:

The 'Double Life' is one of if not 'the' strongest weighbridge available, as a standard.

Portable or Static:

'Double Life' weighbridges are designed with ease of use in mind. Built as a fully portable unit it takes only 1 Hour to decommission and 4 to 5 hours to commission. Special Portable Ramps are also available. Libra has integrated this Weighbridge into a large part of it's Hire Fleet simply because of its long lifespan and ease of port-ability. Plus the design incorporates high resistance to heavy use in arduous condi-tions and works effortlessly in harsh environments.

Easy Cleaning:

Built as standard with a centre gap, the 'Double Life' gives easy access for cleaning under the complete deck area, usually a major problem on other weighbridges due to closed boxed section being used. There is also the option of a removable grid plate for the centre gap closing the whole deck off without restricting access if required.

Axle Loadings:

The standard 'Double Life' design will take 30 to 40 tonnes per axle, more than double the standard capacity of most Weighbridges on the market. And due to the flexible modifications allowed on the deck structure, heavier Axle Loadings can be taken if required. The details on these are available on request.

The Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Ball Bearing Load cell Assembly Eliminates the risk of side loading and overloading.

Why choose a 'Double Life'?

Here are a few reasons below:

  1. Fully Invertible following wear on the used surface, doubling its Life to over 50 years.
  2. The strongest weighbridge available, as a standard, in both Surface and Pit versions.
  3. Surface or Pit mounted Installations. (Installs above or flush with ground level).
  4. Low cost Purchase and ownership costs.
  5. Fully Portable or Static. Special Portable Ramps and spreader plates are also available.
  6. Extendable on Width and Length.
  7. Corrosion, Chemical and Severe Weather resistance.
  8. Fast Installation time only 4 to 5 Hours.
  9. Unrivalled Heavy Duty design. Manufactured to the Highest Quality Standards in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Using high specification materials, and Craftmanship.
  10. Low Cost Foundation work, if required.
  11. 15 Year Guarantee, extendable to Lifetime.
  12. Virtually any Capacity and Dimension available. With good ground clearance to prevent debris builds up and false weighing results.
  13. Deck Thickness 20 times more than most weighbridges.
  14. Ideal for Export as a Kit, up to 5 weighbridges into 1 Container. Very simple installation.
  15. Heavy Duty Stainless steel load Double shear beam load cells, with ball bearing to avoid side loading. Lightning and overvoltage protected and guaranteed.
  16. Full protection against heavy braking and shock loading. The Ball bearing and not the load cell, (as with strut and rocker designs) absorbs all the stress. Hence we can allow a very long guarantee.
  17. You're Companies environmental Impact will be reducedl, buy not having to re purchase, let alone your cost savings. A nice concept in this throw away world.

'Double Life' Weighbridge Explained

How does it work, and why is it much better?

The strength and Inventive design of the Libra 'Double Life' weighbridge allows it to be inverted, basically doubling its lifespan, saving thousands of pounds on buying a replacement.

All weighbridge surfaces eventually wear over the years, that's a fact. This usually requires the expense of a replacement weighbridge.

Some steel decks are as thin as 6mm with most measuring between 10-12mm. Libra's 'Double Life' is 200mm thick, that's 20 times thicker, than most on the market!

The 'Double Life' concrete weighbridge has been designed by specialist structural engineers. Unlike any other weighbridge, the reinforcing and concrete is specially built into the structure to allow even forces for either surface of the weighbridge. Welding has been eliminated at any major stress points and new techniques have been implemented using the concrete to incorporate the loadings. This unique element is required as all other weighbridges are built to accept stresses in one direction only.

We have learnt that the inversion of the concrete from its original position, gives the inverted second position more strength than the original install. This is due to the concrete and steel slightly bowing over the years. Hence when inverted it has been post- stressed giving it extra strength, with a convex strength curve.

The surface like all weighbridges, will eventually wear. However this will not affect the integrity of the weighbridges structure. The deck is 'over-engineered' and can accept extreme loads over many years. The high strength of the structure eliminates over resonance, this is the key factor to allowing the structure to be inverted. Most other designs would be over flexing and causing breakages of welds and perpetually weakening the beams and reinforcing. Plus their design would not allow the weighbridge to be inverted.

A simple Weighbridge concept...... just needed Inventing and Inverting.
